To Break It Down

Let me guess you're here because you have no clue where to start. I know guys like simple. So guys, this ones for you! After these few tips I believe you will feel confident in choosing the right outfits for you senior session.

This guide will go over color schemes, tips, Pinterest mood boards, and some examples to look at. I have included some images but some of this is a bit wordy, hang in there with me!

At the end of the day, this is your session so take the advice as it fits you. Totally apply what works for you. I understand everyone's style is different and you may have your own vision. If you want to go against this guide that's fine, do you!

TIPS FOR YOU

Look like yourself

Wear something that is true to what you wear so when you look back at your pictures they accurately reflect you. You don't need to break the bank for an outfit.

Stay comfy

Comfortability is super important! If you wear tight pants your poses are going to look stiff. The whole time you'll be wishing the session is over. Wear something that's easy to move in.

Your HAIR

Don't forget about your hair. Make sure to hit up your barber and book that appointment once you've booked with me!

The Patterns

I don't recommend any patterns at all! Personally, I hate them for photos. If you feel strongly about them then go with small patterns and something subtle. Also, no graphics or words, these are also a big no.

Add Accessories

The best thing is to dress light and pack on the layers. Wearing a jacket makes a good prop and helps switch up your outfit.

Color Schemes explained...

less is more

I always, always recommend neutral, earthy tones when picking out what to wear. That doesn’t necessarily mean gray and beige. “Neutral” includes mustard yellow, forest green, navy blue, burnt orange, etc. Just think muted colors that don’t distract from your sexy faces. Once you pick a location for your session, I'll be able to give you tips on which colors work best with that specific spot. My personal favorite colors to work with are black, burnt orange, and dusty rose!

Get Inspired

As promised, here's a Pinterest mood board that I put together of my ideal outfits! Checking out Pinterest is great for inspiration and to get an idea of picking out your outfits!

Don't fall into the trap of doing what past seniors have done. Stay true to yourself.

Senior Examples

Edgar | Holland High School Senior of 2021

Edgar was that one senior that showed up to the sesh and I was in awe with his outfit. This is one example of the "perfect outfit" . It may not necessarily be your style but it's definitely my ideal style for guys!

Edgar's outfit is true to him! His outfit colors are nice earthy tones and his clothing does not have distracting patterns. His jacket adds a nice touch to help with posing (peep his jacket and pants has pockets which help change up posing) and give some variation. His chain adds an extra little bit of chef's kiss to complete the look.

FAQ

What if I can't decide on an outfit

Bring additional outfits. It's always better to have options.

What kind of accessories do you recommend wearing?

Pick maybe one or two accessories to spice up your outfit. Necklaces, watch, belt, jacket or something of that nature.

Can I bring props or my dog?

Yes! I love dogs, so I'll always encourage it. If you have a hobby bring it along whether it be a guitar, football jersey, or a rad car.
